Snow Cancels School For First Time In 5 Years
It was a time of high volume celebration. Who knew that a silent scroll across the bottom of a television screen could bring such joy? On Thursday the notoriously resistant Madison School District canceled classes for the first time in five years. In silent anticipation Sam and Spencer were up at the break of dawn to watch the words crawl across the bottom of the screen and there it was...MADISON SCHOOL (PUBLIC)...and with that the silence broken...shouts of joy from children experiencing their very first SNOW DAY! A VERY short time later out the door they went to play...shovel...snowboard.
The winter storm that unloaded 9 inches of snow on Madison by noon Thursday shut down schools, forced UW-Madison to call off late-afternoon and evening classes, sent vehicles spinning and even brought commerce to a halt -- both West Towne and East Towne malls closed early. Even the surgery center was completely closed down by 3. (but then I was off work anyway)
Winter in Wisconsin - best enjoyed with kids and snowboards. (and no, the snowboarder is not really Gene, just a very close likeness.)
Update:
We are currently praying for 3 individuals who have been invited and are themselves praying about joining our team. For them it would require a move. Please be praying. They would truly be a great addition to the team here.
