Day 3. Wednesday.

With the sunrise this morning began a brand new day! This - after yesterday - was a very good thing. Juli was at work by 0600. Gene was just getting up with the boys.

I asked God to use me today to show His love to those I met along the way. I'll be honest, it's a challenge to be 100% present with each patient that I meet when there is not much time to spend and there is so much to do in that time. It's easy to focus on the facts - signs, symptoms, procedure, policy, orders...and of course, Right patient, Right Drug and Right Dose! I imagine I am not alone in this. I also know that today I had a better day because I was able to focus on what mattered (unlike yesterday). Real life is where we are living, right now. It doesn't pause while we go to work, do the dishes and laundry...

As a church planters, we're not just committed to starting a church, in the sense of a place for people to go to spend their time, money and energy. We want to be what the church is, what Jesus is. This means that my job isn't just a way to make money so we can do what we really want to do. My job is where God has me to learn to be like Jesus. My place of employment is where I may meet someone who has questions, wonders about who Jesus is, would like to know they are welcome in the Kingdom of God.

An article I read not too long ago, THE INCARNATIONAL LIFE by Jason Zahariades says this,
"Jesus was the incarnation of God. As a real and genuine human being, Jesus fully embodied God. He embodied the will, love, character, and mind of God. Jesus didn’t just do God’s will. He IS God’s will. Jesus didn’t just act lovingly toward people. He IS God’s love. Jesus completely embodied God even when he was asleep, or fixing a meal, or telling a joke. In other words, Jesus completely embodied God even when he wasn’t doing anything."

John tells us that "Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” (John 20:21-22)

I want to know, I need to know what that looks like - at work, at play, at rest, at study, at prayer, at the movies!

O.K., back up for air.... today was a better day.

On the home front... Gene had a house full all day. Sam had a friend from school over, and of course the neighbors. Another treat today was a surprise visit from some friends from La Crosse. Aaron, Geri and Olivia Lewis. Thanks "guys" for stopping by!

Tonight became a family night and then when the boys were in bed, Gene had a chance to re-work a song he's working on and finalize some wedding ceremony plans for this weekend. We have a wedding rehearsal tomorrow night and so our group is not meeting - so we made those phone calls.

The wedding this weekend is that of a couple here in Madison. Gene has been getting to know them over the past couple weeks, I will get to meet them tomorrow. Please pray for us this weekend and for this couple. Pray that their wedding would be beautiful - exceeding their dreams. Pray that they would know the Peace of God - that He would use us to be vehicles of His love and grace.
