This is the life...

Earlier today Gene was getting ready to head out to a two day LEAD team meeting -a group of pastors and church planters that gather to Lead -Encourage- Acheive- Dream - where he serves as Head Coach. I was planning to run out and get new goggles for the boys in hopes that we can use up less Visine by using better goggles... After that, I had plans that the boys and I would spend the day together doing a couple of the things that Gene doesn't enjoy doing - hanging out at the book store, sharing a smoothie, reading and acting out books... I had big expectations for this day. And then I heard hooting outside the door, that's right "hooting". HOOT! HOOT! HOOT!

I opened the door and there stood Bailey and Spencer from next door. As I opened the door the two boys ran past me and up to Sam's room. Within the next few seconds all four boys were out by the pool, in their swim suits, waiting for me to give the o.k. But, what about our trip to the book store? What about my agenda? my plans!? I admit it, I was kinda miffed. (I looked it up, it is a real word.)

As I sat on the deck with my laptop, ready to do some research and writing, I found myself smiling at the fun interactions...the game of "MARCO - POLO". I decided that I would join in the fun and get out the hose. The time turned into great fun and I am reminded of the things that are truly worth my time. The only things eternal being people and God... I have the opportunity today to be a part of the lives of my boys and two of our new friends. So what if it is swimming and playing in the backyard instead of ahe bookstore and sprinkler park. (so what am I doing here writing about it...?)
